Working group status: active since February 2024

The accessible image model working group was created improve the accessibility of images in Wagtail.

Charter

We meet as-needed to discuss progress and next steps. In-between meetings, we collaborate via Slack in the #a11y-image-model-working-group channel.

Membership is open to all. Are you interested in lending us your expertise? Come say hi on Slack!

Goals

Specifically, the working group has the following goals:

  1. To make it easier for site implementers to create accessible sites, by making contextual alt text a first class feature in Wagtail
  2. Document accessibility best practices surrounding images to help site implementers build accessible sites
  3. To improve the accessibility of the Wagtail admin interface, in particular the image chooser
